Lexis Advance® is the new, modern version of Lexis.com®, the legal and business research product. It involves a new search engine and the freedom of merely entering the search phrase without being required to select any filters prior to searching. The results are presented on separate pages with tabs for each content type. There are also an array of appropriate post-filters to choose from (jurisdiction, date, etc.) once the results are presented. I was part of the team who worked on Lexis Advance, starting with the second release through the 2014 redesigned version shown here (redesigned to be responsive, accessible and internationally localizable).
I have worked on various projects for Lexis Advance over the years, including Shepard’s, (shown here), all of the content (meaning the display of each content type in the results and the display of the documents themselves (right panel area), annotations for documents in work folders, and a citation convertor that not only adds the citation when the user copies text, but is able to apply the correct format for a variety of jurisdictional style manuals. I was responsible for bringing the Shepard’s® Report into compliance with the 2014 redesign, which was challenging because it had some unique features which required some brainstorming to conform to the new design patterns.
